Oumou Koita, 15
Rising High School Freshman
Oumou, an over-age student from Guinea, West Africa, has lived in Brooklyn since she migrated to the United States at age 9. Being placed two grades behind after she arrived to the States, Oumou has struggled with her Reading and Reading Comprehension proficiencies. During her time in Tomorrow’s Leaders, Oumou grades and self-confidence dramatically increased as she received the support services she needed to help her conquer her most recent goal; graduate from middle school.
How did being an overage middle student make you feel?
