In this challenging time of COVID-19, partner with Tomorrow’s Leaders NYC (TLNYC) as we raise funding to launch two Tomorrow’s Leaders Learning Centers; one in The Bronx and one in Brooklyn.
OUR GOAL
As you may be aware, after major educational struggles last year with virtual learning at home, NYC schools have returned in-person for the 21-22 school year. In an effort to support students in need, Tomorrow’s Leaders NYC has answered the call to create a safe, enriching, socially distanced environment for students who need personalized support after-school, on weekends, and during all school breaks. Enrolled students who visit TLNYC Learning Centers will enter a supportive and friendly space dedicated to providing middle and high school participants with a myriad of programming opportunities including critically-needed academic and social/emotional support services.
OUR WHY
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, low-income students and families of the South Bronx and East New York are still facing numerous obstacles. From continued technical support and internet issues to home/neighborhood environment issues, middle and high school students in this category are at higher risk of not/not being able to complete school/homework. When school/homework is not completed over a long timeframe, the issue balloons and can end (1) with a non-passing grade, (2) being held back if the issue persists, and (3) having truancy-related issues that could end up in dropping out of school.
THE COST
As you may be aware, opening a TLLC in both The Bronx and Brooklyn will require funding. We are currently raising $50,000 which will keep two TLLCs operational for 12-months; $25,000 to fund Brooklyn’s TLLC and $25,000 to launch/fund The Bronx’s TLLC.
OUR PROGRAMMING
Using TLNYC best practices as a guide, TLNYC Learning Centers will offer the following services to youth ages 13-21 1) Academic Support, 2) Community Service/Social Justice Workshops and Projects, 3) One-on-one and Group Mentoring Sessions, 4) College Access Workshops, and 5) Job and Internship Readiness Programming.
