WE ARETOMORROW'S LEADERSNYCREAD OUR STORYOur StoryTomorrow's Leaders NYC (TLNYC) was founded in 2011 as a much needed response to a growing epidemic in the NYC public school system: overage middle school students. Since then, the focus has expanded beyond its initial scope in order to cater to a variety of at-risk students. At the heart of our work are students who have often been overlooked, many of whom have been held back in school or face challenges that extend beyond the classroom. Through free in-school and out of school programming, TLNYC creates a supportive environment where students are encouraged to grow academically, develop leadership and critical thinking skills, and build the confidence and interpersonal skills needed to thrive.
More than just a program, TLNYC is a community dedicated to helping young people recognize their potential, rewrite their narratives, and become the next generation of leaders. Since 2011, (TLNYC) has served over 4,000 middle and high school students. It is also the only organization in the country that explicitly supports over-age middle school students, and then continues supporting them throughout high school, helping them to defy the odds. Our MissionOur MissionOur mission is to help students overcome social, emotional, and academic challenges to become positive and productive leaders of their community and we take a holistic approach when looking to grow and develop the individuals we are serving. We target their social, emotional, and psychological well being in order to improve the academic outcomes. Our mantra is take whatever means by any means necessary to improve the mental, social, and economic condition of the black and brown communities that we serve.
