We’re Now In Manhattan

After celebrating six years of operations on January 9, 2018, Tomorrow’s Leaders NYC (TLNYC) has officially expanded. Hello, Manhattan!

In collaboration with the New York City Department of Education’s 9×9 Program and Chancellor Carmen Fariña’s Office, TLNYC has been selected to provide academic, social, and emotional support services to 20 students split between two transfer high schools; The James Baldwin School and Forsyth Satellite Academy.

“This partnership is a great opportunity for our organization and

the middle school students we serve,” said TLNYC Executive Director and Founder Toyin Ayanfodun. “These partnerships go along with our ultimate vision which is to work with [our] students from middle school through their successful completion of high school.”

When speaking about the new partnership, Ayanfodun was appreciative and humbled by the advocacy of the program’s students.

“I want to personally send a big thank you to the students from our partnering Bronx middle schools who were selected for the 9×9 program,” said Ayanfodun. “They were particularly vocal about TLNYC mentors working with them in their new schools.”

Focused on District 9 middle schools in The Bronx, the 9×9 Program takes 40 over-age 8th-grade students and places them in four transfer high schools mid-year. The key is providing advanced opportunities to become familiarized with the high school setting while completing their 8th-grade coursework and earning high school credits.
