All-Star Saturday 2018

With over 75 people in attendance, All-Star Saturday: A Community Forum and Basketball Game was a great success.

Featuring an all-star game between Bronx and Brooklyn and a second game where college all-stars had a chance to participate and play by a vote of the students, the day was packed with smiles, laughs, and friendly competition.

Even though The Bronx lost against Brooklyn, one student from The Bronx said “It was really cool,” when asked about how he liked the event. “I learned a lot and played in the game.”

Dedicated to boosting community-to-school engagement, All-Star Saturday also featured a panel discussion from various professionals who worked tirelessly to overcome their circumstance to become a leader.

“This event would not have been possible without powerful community people leaders like Evita Hernaez, Mike Woods, Kayode Ayeni, Antwane Miller, and David Andoh,” said Founder and Executive Director Toyin Ayanfodun when talking about the panel and event. “I also want to give a special shout out to the teams, JHS 292, volunteers, staff as they made the event work smoothly.”

Hosted by by Announcer J.U Jones and Journalist Bianca Peart, All-Star Saturday featured music from DJ Tunez of Star Boy Records.
